Across 270 pages, this second edition of Journals of Love & Literature gathers a chorus of emerging and independent voices to contemplate what it means to belong to one another. From childhood memory to generational trauma, quiet rituals to explosive ruptures, this issue honours the stories we carry, the homes we make, and the people we fight to keep close.

This edition is once again a meeting ground for diverse creative mediums: literature, photography, film stills, paintings, essays, drawings, and more. It folds high art into everyday intimacy. With the weight of a coffee table book and the readability of a long letter from a loved one, For the Family is made to be kept close, revisited, and shared.

We continue to champion queer and P.O.C voices, and centre love—as resistance, as inheritance, and as radical honesty. This issue asks you to sit at the table with us, to listen and to speak, to grieve and to rejoice.

This is a tribute to the families we come from, the families we form, and the families we’re still dreaming into being.

Journals of Love & Literature is an art and literary publication celebrating independent and emerging writers and artists and championing for queer and P.O.C voices. Our goal is to foster a community of authentic, like-minded people to celebrate what truly matters. We wish to honour the physical vessel of storytelling, the tactile, that assembles itself and becomes something much beyond its own limitations.

This is impossible without connection, the theme of issue 1. Journals of Love & Literature acts as a meeting ground for all different creative mediums; photography, fictive and non-fictive literature, paintings, music, film, drawings, etc.

With the weight and look of a coffee table book, but the readability of a novel on your bedside table, it accommodates itself to a range of different reading habits. A daring take on a traditional journal, it constitutes a juxtaposition between highbrow arts culture and the quirky, promiscuity of our emerging generation.
